Now is the part of my day where I find out it is within budget but agonize over whether or not it is $8000 better than Partygirl.

Fuck man, that 701 is my dream bike!

Same, I keep having that internal struggle between it being my dream bike, and knowing that I would be too afraid to ride a $12000 Supermoto as hard as it should be ridden. As hard as I ride my DR-Z

Sigh, I know it’s inevitable, one day I’ll crack and buy one. Especially with the updated 2017 motor.

Yea, they are silly expensive but I just love em. I’m a novice rider, but I’ve ridden a crotch rocket or two, a cruiser, a scrambler, a DRZ 650 dual sport and a DRZ400SM. My heart lies with the super moto. Is yours a DRZ400 or something bigger converted?

Mine is the blue one pictured, 2002 DR-Z400S modified with a Keihin FCR39 Carb, MRD Exhaust, and Excel supermoto wheels.

Awesome silly fun and I can really wail on it hard in the twisites. The 701 just seems perfect though, same power as my SV650 but with the weight and size of the DR-Z

As an owner, would you recommend a DRZ400SM, or save for something with a little more juice?

That depends entirely on use. If you see a lot of highway and like to travel long distances for your twisties it’s really hard to argue with a second gen SV650 from a value perspective. If you like to storm storm local twisites and kart tracks and your commute doesn’t have much highway the DR-Z is the perfect weapon. For me and my more urban commute the DR-Z is actually a bit much, I have a much more enjoyable time on either my Grom or Scooter.

What makes the 701 really attractive to me is that I think it could replace both the DR-Z and the SV, only real concern is reliability (the SV can do more than 100K miles on a motor)

I’ve only got the Grom at the moment. Sounds like the DRZ would suit me well, I find myself thwarted by cars even on the grom a lot of times. So the DRZ would probably be plenty.

Yeah that’s the other thing that consistently wins out when I find myself looking at Superdukes and Tuonos. “Hey Decay, whens the last time you felt held back by your SV? Oh that’s right... never”

You’re too frugal for your own good. Just do it already.

It’s true :(

One of these days I’ll crack and just buy the damn thing... probably the first day the DR-Z gives me trouble
